Sun, sand and the environment – Our most beautiful beaches worldwide

Who doesn’t know the feeling? The rain and cooler temperatures, when we actually want to enjoy some sun after the winter. Here you can find our current favorites for the perfect summer beach holiday.

Enjoy the nature on the powdered sugar beaches of the Maldives

When I think of beaches, islands and a relaxing summer holiday, the first thing that comes to mind is the Maldives. Beautiful white beaches, close to nature and surrounded by the extensive reefs in the middle of the Indian Ocean – a perfect paradise to enjoy barefoot. At the eco-luxury resort Gili Lankanfushi you can experience dreamy beaches and pamper yourself with traditional wellness treatments in the Meera Spa, and all without regrets, as the resort has long pursued a sustainable philosophy. If you want to learn more about sustainability and the environment: the resort offers environmental tours guided by the resort’s marine biologist.

The small, idyllic island of Filaidhoo also belongs to the Maldives and is considered an untouched gem. Here, the Reethi Faru Resort was built in 2017 according to strict, sustainable guidelines and impresses us today with its spacious villas and the house reef, which is only 30-80 meters out from the beach. The Reethi Faru is a Green Pearl because it places environmental protection as a top priority. Diving with the marine biologist and exploring the underwater world, trying different water sports, enjoying wellness treatments and then finishing the day with a dinner on the beach – what more could you ask for?

Enjoy the baltic sea – with or without children

Frolicking on the beach during the day and relaxing in the evening – this is what a family holiday at the Bio Kinder- und Familienhotel Gut Nisdorf on the Baltic Sea looks like. The Gut Nisdorf combines the amenities of a hotel with those of a holiday apartment and is therefore perfectly suited to families. Regular childcare allows adults to enjoy the quiet bliss of some couple-time as well. The organic breakfast provides the perfect start to a day filled with exciting new adventures.

In contrary to the family estate, where the focus is on the whole family, the Lifestylehotel SAND, which is also located at the Baltic Sea, is an Adults Only Hotel. Adults can relax here among themselves – highly recommended as a weekend getaway for a little break from the children. For an active summer day, there are various sports such as beach polo and beach volleyball and the long beach promenade invites you to take a leisurely stroll. Our tip: The roof terrace spa with a fantastic view of the Baltic Sea followed by a cozy evening in the Rooftop Bar.

Sustainability on the Maldives – is that possible?

I have just been on the Maldives, more precisely at the resorts Reethi Beach, Reethi Faru and Gili Lankanfushi. The central topic of this trip was how to act sustainably on an island, which certainly presents a greater challenge than on the mainland.
