Mind and soul in Bad Herrenalb

The SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA in Bad Herrenalb takes notice of the artists, being responsible for so many details in the hotel, through recommendations or friends. For a long time, the cartoons of Klaus Karlitzky (KK Cartoon) decorate the hotel bar and in the “Lädle” next to the lobby, you can buy SinnLicht candles from Karlsruhe and regionally produced cuckoo clocks. The newest, artistic work at the SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA are painted stones from artist Anke Sandra Kessinger, which in summer serve as table numbers for the terrace tables.

Artwork and Klaubauf – Museum in Matrei

Othmar Trost is one of the best-known artists in East Tyrol and he is from Matrei – as well as the Naturhotel Outside. A cooperation seems natural; thus, the walls are decorated with art of Othmar Trost. Not directly at the hotel, but in a museum in the town, you can marvel at the creepy Klaubauf disguising which are an important local tradition. Klaubauf plays a big role for the village: Always at the beginning of December the Klaibaife with their frightening masks, fur disguising and loud ringing invade the small town. While Santa Claus visits the children, the Klaibaife try to throw passing pedestrians on their back – but never fear, it usually is just a hug. 

Sculpture exhibition in Bad Birnbach

The Bavarian Hofgut Hafnerleiten focuses on rest and relaxation surrounded by nature and enjoyment for the guests – but art plays a big role too. The sculptor Werner Richter exhibits his works in the interior as well as in the outside area. The married couple Horn-Rückerl got aware of Richter at exhibitions and personal contacts. 

Creative center with studio in the Bavarian Forest

At the beginning of the 90s the Villa Breitenberg was developed by the former owner Gerd Grüneisl to a creative center for his painting courses – including guest house for the participants. After Guido Hettler and Alexander Popitz took over the villa in May, 2016, they found two, large-size paintings by Grüneisl on the attic. Today these paintings, beside the works of contemporary, French artists like Pierre-Luc Granjon and Claude Bensaïd, decorate the walls of some guest-rooms. But also, the regular cultural events involve regional artists.
