The winter of 2022/23 was not a cozy one. It wasn’t the coldest, but because of the rise in energy prices and the associated savings, many have forgone luxuries. It will be all the nicer to enjoy the sun again in spring! If you are looking for the best spring destinations of the year, we will introduce you to some particularly beautiful spots for March and April. The apple blossom is a beautiful experience! Especially on the Swiss side of Lake Constance. As early as March, you can follow up daily about the inflorescence of the apple trees on the Internet (which most likely open in April). Schloss Wartegg is in the immediate vicinity of the largest fruit-growing canton in Switzerland. The castle, now converted into a restaurant and hotel, is on the waterfront of Lake Constance – surrounded by great cycling and hiking trails through the blooming landscape.

Tip: On April 1, 2023, a murder mystery dinner is scheduled in Schloss Wartegg. It means: A 4-course menu made from organic ingredients with live theater. There is a 15% discount on a subsequent hotel overnight stay! However, you must understand Swiss dialect.

Alkaline Fasting at Naturresort Gerbehof

If you want to do something for your health this spring, we recommend a stay at the Gerbehof nature resort on the German side of Lake Constance. After the winter shutdown, the organic-certified hotel will be open again from March 13th. It starts directly with its alkaline fasting cures. Such a cure covers five or seven nights. The food plan consists of 100% basic creations with fruits and vegetables, as well as ginger water (instead of coffee) in the morning. The Alpine region in Tyrol at springtime is a delightful eye side! The meadows are already green, but in the background scenery the mountain peaks are still covered with snow, shining in the sun. The first heralds of spring include the crocuses, which peep out as early as March.

Tip: You can keep an eye out for the following flowers: coltsfoot (yellow: blooms from February to April), gentian (blue), alpine bells (purple: April to June – picking strictly forbidden) and pasqueflower (blue and highly poisonous – but very popular with butterflies and bumblebees).

Sustainable hotels for your spring vacation in Northern Italy

LA VIMEA opens on April 7th

Italy’s first pure vegan hotel, LA VIMEA, is located in South Tyrol on the Italian side of the Alps. Not only is the menu completely vegan, but also all the hotel’s facilities. It’s not difficult to get active here: biking, hiking, running, walking – you’ll find the perfect environment for all of this! But you can also relax in the adults-only hotel: with natural swimming, Ayurvedic treatments, yoga and meditation.
