We have already told you a lot about the relaxing effect of the mountains and forests, the sea and the lakes near our green pearls. This time it’s about the flowing waters: We show you the most beautiful streams and rivers around the Green Pearls® hotels.
Biotopes worthy of protection
Running waters are unique biotopes with a great diversity of species. But streams and rivers are also in danger. Many rivers have been straightened by people and flood plains in the surrounding area have been built on. Many cities and communities are therefore now once again focusing on the rehabilitation of watercourses. But this is a long process. Smaller mountain streams in particular can often still be found in their original form. A walk or hike along a soothingly rushing river is wonderfully relaxing.

Creeks on the hotel property
Three of our green pearls have creeks flowing through their properties, allowing you to experience nature right on the spot. The Locanda Mistral is particularly untouched. There, the Maira stream flows directly into the hotel’s beautiful garden. Our tip: After a long day of hiking, enjoy a refreshing foot bath directly in the small stream – wonderful!

Garden with water wheel
The Summit Lodges in Pfunds are located in the midst of the Tyrolean mountains and a small mountain stream runs across the property of the vacation homes. In the garden, directly at the cozy seating area for guests, you will find a self-made water wheel. Enjoy the lush green nature and relax in the fresh mountain air.
Katzenbach at the bee hotel
In the hotel park of the Hotel Rinner in South Tyrol flows the Katzenbach. Let the sound of the stream soothe you to sleep and increase your sense of well-being. By the way, the bee hotel stands for the concept of extraordinary API wellness.

Mountain river in Switzerland
The Mattervispa River flows through the center of Zermatt. It is only a few minutes’ walk from CERVO Mountain Resort down to the river. The rushing mountain river loops right past the traditional houses. Since Zermatt is car-free, you can start longer hikes on both sides of the river without any stress. In the past summers, the bridges in the village had to be closed from time to time, as glacial eruptions forced huge amounts of water into the village and the Vispa was in danger of overflowing its banks. A sad scene, unfortunately can be explained by the melting of the glaciers due to global warming. But the Swiss mountain region also has many great excursion destinations, especially in summer. Particularly in May and June, when the snow of the winter melts, the mountain streams flow wildly and invite you to recreational foot baths on a hike. CERVO’s recommendation is the beautiful 5-lake hike.

Use the power of water wisely
There are also an incredible number of rivers and lakes in Berchtesgadener Land. The Berghotel Rehlegg in Ramsau is surrounded by several flowing waters. The Ramsauer Ache flows through the center of the village. A great destination near Ramsau is the so-called Magic Forest, through which the mountain river also flows. As early as 1896, a footpath was created through the original forest. Nature is left to its own devices here and yet can be experienced. Incidentally, the Ramsau municipal area generates energy from the river’s water power, which the hotel uses in addition to its own photovoltaic systems.
