At Green Pearls® Hotel Okelmann’s bicycles can be rented by prior arrangement. If you arrive with your own bike, you can store it free of charge. By the way: Helmut Okelmann, a member of the owner family, has been creating bike tours around the Eco-Hotel on Komoot since 2020. The biking tours last between 1 and 4.5 hours and are easy to moderately difficult. At the reception you can download the tours via QR code to your mobile phone or bike navigation system.

Tip: Okelmann’s also has a sauna in a converted shepherd’s cart and its own café (perfect for relaxing after the tour) 🙂.

ADFC Bett + Bike Hotels = Perfect for a Bicycle Vacation

The Bett + Bike criteria of the German Cyclists’ Federation (ADFC) are really helpful when looking for a bike-friendly accommodation. They include a dry and secure place to store your bike and a place to dry your clothes (especially important now in the fall when you have limited luggage). The service also includes a healthy breakfast and provisions for the tour.

Green city trip on two wheels in Erlangen

The Hotel Luise in beautiful Erlangen is a “Bed & Bike” hotel that has been awarded by the German Cycling Club. 12 rental bikes are available here and there is a secure garage and a charging station for e-bikes.

Guided Bike Tours at the STURM in Mellrichstadt

What many people don’t know about the STURM is that before it was converted into a sustainable organic hotel with a natural swimming pond and garden, it was a biker hotel for motorcyclists. The Rhön Biosphere Reserve has a beautiful landscape with moors and winding roads that many bikers enjoy. STURM offers a lockable bike cellar, e-bike charging stations, guided bike tours, and mountain bike rentals.

Biking through Switzerland in the fall

A tour through the Swiss Alps is the right terrain for mountain bikers and ambitious cyclists who don’t mind altitude meters. In the car-free town of Zermatt, you’ll find the family-run Organic Hotel Bella Vista. It has a lockable bike room with a washing station for your bike. In the morning (weather permitting) you can start your day on the terrace with a view of the famous mountain Matterhorn. In the afternoon you can stop here for coffee and cake and in the evening you strawl into a restaurant in town – doesn’t that sound like a perfect day?!

MTB and E-Bike Tours in Austria

Talking about biking vacations, the “Bike Republic Sölden” in Austria’s Ötztal is a must. It is one of the most popular destinations for mountain bikers, with well-marked tours, training facilities and famous descents for all levels.

The Peak Sölden belongs to the “Bike Homes Ötztal” and the first MTB trails start right in front of the chalets and apartments. In the lockable bike room you will find tools and stands to repair your bike if necessary. There is also a laundry service for sportswear!

Bike tours around Lake Weissensee

If you are looking for a less demanding bike ride (maybe together as a family), the area around Lake Weissensee might be interesting for you! It is relatively flat. A tip: On komoot you can find 20 biking tours around Lake Weissensee.

A vacation at Lake Weissensee in Carinthia can also be combined with a gourmet trip. The Genießerhotel Die Forelle is located directly on the shores of Lake Weissensee. It is owned by 4-Hauben chef Hannes Müller, one of Austria’s best chefs. One of the special features of his cuisine is the “import self-sufficiency”. He cooks exclusively with ingredients from the region – and is happy to share this with his guests in one of his cooking classes.
