Honey as a remedy
Surely, you also like to use honey when you have a cold. It makes sense because honey has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect. But where does the healing effect of honey actually come from? The ingredients of honey vary depending on the type of flowers, and is thus dependent on the collection area of the bees and the respective season. The vitamins, enzymes, minerals, and trace elements strengthen our immune system. When choosing honey, decide for organic quality because otherwise you will usually find residues of chemical fertilizers in it. By the way, honey is not only suitable for internal use, but also for external use directly on the skin for example, to clean wounds. Today we introduce you to some of our green pearls that have beehives on their hotel grounds and produce their honey.
The bee hotel
You can experience a special connection to bees and honey at APIPIURA hotel rinner in South Tyrol. Paul Rinner, has been pursuing his passion of beekeeping since his youth. He brings his bee colonies to different locations, allowing to produce different varieties. The variety ranges from apple blossom honey, dandelion honey to forest honey and high heath honey. The healing power of bees is also used in the hotel’s API Wellness. Here you breathe in the precious beehive air which is full of essential oils, flavonoids from the honey, pollen, wax, and propolis. The therapy has a healing effect on respiratory problems and allergies. Let yourself be pampered in the bee hotel and experience the power of honey on your body.
Honey from the heights

ADLER Lodge RITTEN is located in the middle of greenery in a clearing in South Tyrol. There are plenty of forests and meadows here, an ideal location for a bee colony. The bees live at an altitude of 1,250 meters, which also affects the taste of the honey. It tastes of the meadow flowers and linden blossoms, as well as the honeydew of the forest. The experienced beekeepers Doris and Michael Hafner take care of the six colonies that have their place under the tall trees near the lodge. On site, we recommend you visit a honey tasting with the beekeeping couple. Taste your way through delicious honey from different altitudes.
A young bee colony
In October 2020, the vacation village MANOAH opened its doors for guests and even before that there was a plan to host a bee colony. This plan was put into action in spring 2021. About 40,000 industrious insects live on the grounds and enjoy the diversity of the in-house flowering meadow. Of course, the harvest is also given to the guests, and you can taste and buy the honey on site. We are curious to see how much yield the bees will gather in their first summer at Zeulenroda.
City honey

The Creativhotel Luise in Erlangen proves that honey can be produced not only outdoors in nature, but also in the city. To ensure that the bees really feel at home, around half of the 3000 m2 hotel grounds are green spaces. You can buy the delicious honey at the hotel and even in its own online store.
