The alarm clock rings, eyes are rubbed sleepily, the covers are thrown back, and even as you’re just starting to wake up, you’re already turning on the coffee maker. Does this sound familiar? For many, this is how a typical day starts. Whether it’s because you really like coffee or because you need it to wake up.
But there are plenty of alternatives to the classic coffee – and we’re not talking about the well-known energy drink or cola.
Coffee alternatives are becoming increasingly popular, as rising sales figures prove. Simply to provide a little variety or because the coffee does not taste good or is not well-tolerated.
Alternatives at Green Pearls® Partners

These alternatives have also already arrived at our Green Pearls® partners. At Hotel Bella Vista Zermatt, for example, there is organic cereal coffee or lupine coffee.
The special thing about it? As for taste, the grain coffee is very reminiscent of the classic bean coffee. However, it contains no caffeine and is also said to be better digestible. In the grain coffee at the Hotel Bella Vista Zermatt are rye, chicory, barley, acorns, and figs. The lupine coffee is – as the name suggests – made from lupines.
Why all this? Lupines can be easily obtained from many organic farms. The plants are used by many farms as an effective green fertilizer and are cultivated accordingly on a large scale. As a useful plant, the lupine has only recently come back into focus. The transport routes are therefore eliminated. In addition, the whole production process is considered to be more environmentally friendly.

The classic: Tea
Of course, those who need a caffeine-fueled energy boost still have some alternatives to coffee. The bright green traditional drink from Japan, matcha tea, for example. It’s made from ground green tea leaves and is considered a pick-me-up and is even traded as a health-promoting super drink. As the traditional drink becomes more popular, the supply of organic matcha is also on the rise. More classic and somewhat less expensive are the normal tea alternatives: Green and black tea also contain theine and thus have a stimulating effect. For this reason there’s a big selection of Tea on offer at the Paradiso Pure.Living. LA VIMEA even offers home-made herbal infusions and special tea for the guests to be enjoyed at free time or after the sauna and spa, or just after a regenerating swim in the indoor Pool.
These herbal infusions are prepared at LA VIMEA kitchen with many different fresh herbs picked directly form organic LA VIMEA garden, according to the season and accompany it with some spices, like cardamom, star anise, cloves, making nice healing and tasty blends for their guests.
The sweet alternative
Those who prefer it sweet may have already come across the chocolaty alternative: Cocoa with Guarana. Here, too, there are organic and fair trade versions that you can enjoy with a clear conscience. With plant-based milk, this pick-me-up is also delicious – and even vegan.
Moving away from hot drinks, there’s also another plant-based energy source: Ginger shots. The root of the ginger plant is considered a miracle cure for all sorts of ailments, including digestive problems, colds, nausea, arthritis, and rheumatism. But the root can do even more, it also stimulates the metabolism and is therefore a real all-rounder.

If you combine ginger with milk and turmeric, you have a traditional Ayurvedic drink: golden milk. It is said to stimulate liver function and help the body with digestion and detoxification. Turmeric milk is also said to have long-term physical and mental stimulating effects. It is said to protect against Alzheimer’s disease and help with sleep disorders.
Maybe this little overview could help you find your new favorite drink. Have fun trying it out!
