It was raining, we were soaked and freezing. We already visited some of the tourist attractions in Aachen like the cathedral, the treasury and the Elisenbrunnen. Now all we wanted was a nice café to warm us up with coffee and cake – preferably vegan. All of the sudden we were standing in front of a café with the inscription “Isabella Gluten-free Pâtisserie” – that sounded promising! The pâtisserie itself is a small, nicely decorated café with a wide selection of sweet treats and freshly baked bread; much of it vegan. The prices are not comparable to those of the bakery around the corner – but after we took a bite of our cake, we knew why: handmade, lovingly prepared and not too sweet, in short, it melts in the mouth!
