From the end of August onwards, tens of thousands of cranes will move from their breeding grounds in Sweden to their winter quarters in northern Spain – taking a break around the family hotel Gut Nisdorf on the Western Pomeranian coast. Every morning and evening, large groups of cranes fly directly over the hotel. In the immediate vicinity (easy to reach on foot or by bicycle) there are four protected observation stations. Even from the window of your room the big birds can be observed – and their trumpet-tone-like shouts are also good to hear. In mid-November, the cranes then begin their long onward flight. A fascinating spectacle that every year fascinates small and large guests.
